Fire in the Meth Lab (WHANGANUI)
Wed Dec 13th @ 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Australian comedian and storyteller Jon Bennett (Pretending Things are a Cock, My Dad’s Deaths) has landed in New Zealand and is touring his insane and incredible Fire in the Meth Lab around the country. Jon is a multi-award winning performer and a powerhouse of guts and gusto. His stories are meaningful, bizarre, hilarious and true – Fire in the Meth Lab is no exception.
How’s jail? How many cigarettes does it cost for a picture of a naked lady? I’ve written a show about you, is that okay? You’re in jail so you can’t really say no.
Fire in the Meth Lab is a shocking and chaotic story of drug dealers, bikers, high-speed car chases, fights, crime, prison, vomit, exploding houses, and even cancer. It sounds outrageous but the show also explores brotherly relationships and how siblings with the same upbringing can choose very separate paths with charismatic hilarity and heart-warming, poignant reflection.
“Bennett has an uncanny and unnerving ability to make you crease up with laughter before dropping a perfectly timed bombshell. ★★★★” – Time Out (UK)
Wellington-based but Temuka-raised comedian Rhian Wood-Hill is joining Jon on the road following the success of his nation-wide tour of How I Met My Father. Wood-Hill has some tall tales to tell about his time as a professional poker player – but he isn’t bluffing.
“Rhian’s unpretentiously direct approach to relating his personal tale is immediately engaging” –Theatreview
Needless to say, the whole night is going to be wild.
